Return to TRIWest In The Press
ECONOMY/IRAQ CONCERNS LOWERS RESULTS FOR TIMESHARE AUCTION 2002 BY FIVE PER CENT LOS ANGELES--- Over 100 live bidders along with forty-four mail-in and internet bidders produced a total of 80 timeshare sales at TRI West's 21st annual auction. But concerns over the economy and a possible Iraq conflict lowered overall results for this years auction by five per cent. "After 21 successful auctions, a live auction supported with mail-in bids and live internet chatters from around the world is still the only way to sell a large number of different resorts in different locations quickly and at a fair market price," said auction sponsor Mario Collura of TRI West. According to Collura, 100% of the sellers who attended the auction and followed the TRI West starting bid recommendations sold their timeshare week. A total of eighty timeshares were sold with an average price of $1,944. Highest price paid was $9,500 for a two bedroom Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Springs, CA. Lowest price paid was $150 for a two bedroom Silverleaf's Villages in Flint, TX.
